Setbacks are rarely just disappointing.
They are embarrassing!
Even when no one says anything. Even when people are supportive. There is often a quiet shame that settles in. A sense that you should have known better. Done more. Seen it coming.
That shame is corrosive. Not because it is loud, but because it is subtle. It influences decisions. It narrows choices. It convinces capable people to play smaller than they should.
Most confidence advice ignores shame entirely. That is a mistake.
You cannot rebuild confidence without addressing the part of you that feels exposed. Pretending it is not there does not make it disappear. It just makes it operate in the background.
Confidence returns when shame is acknowledged and then challenged with action. Not perfection. Action.
You are allowed to learn publicly. You are allowed to rebuild visibly. You are allowed to take up space again.
