One of the most important things I learned about confidence is this:
Your brain isn’t trying to make you successful.
It’s trying to keep you safe.
After a setback, your brain becomes more cautious.
Don’t speak up.
Don’t risk it.
Don’t get your hopes up.
Don’t try again.
That voice isn’t weakness.
It’s protection.
The problem is that what protects you today often limits you tomorrow.
Confidence returns when you stop treating every uncomfortable situation like a threat.
Not every risk is dangerous.
Not every failure is catastrophic.
Not every disappointment is permanent.
Sometimes growth feels exactly like danger.
That’s why so many people miss it.
I help individuals and organizations build confidence that can operate even when fear is present. Learn more at kinneyconfidence.com.
